Episode 49 – Ninotchka – 1939

Regi-ing against the machine is back and we have a lot of fun with a movie that wasn’t that good at portraying anything or anybody. A weird love-story between a British-American Frenchman and a Swedish Russian is the “center” but a lot of bullshit is swirling around it. We discuss nice guys of the 30s, surprise Nazis and happy endings.

Episode 40 – Comrade X – 1940

The charming and talented Monika Ben is joining us to cover a very special movie, Comrade X, the 1940s Hollywood-made communist comedy starring Clark Gable and Hedy Lamarr. We discuss trams, marriage, Russian alcoholism, the who’s’who of Russian dictators and the best tank chase scene of all times!
