Episode 32 – Perry Rhodan – SOS aus dem Weltall (Mission Stardust, …4 …3 …2 …1 …morte) – 1967

What is this about not having enough weird German Sci-Fi on our show? Well, my new and exciting and excited co-host Malinda Perera try our weirdest with a german book adaptation done by Italians and starring the crew from the generic handsome American School of the Arts. We discuss bad effects, nebulous plot, savagery and many more aspects of this sixties movie and we had a great time.

Episode 30 – The Black Hole – Das schwarze Loch – 1979

We are getting dragged down by the black (plot)hole of this movie and start to feel symptoms of time-dilution but I have the charming and witty Azar Milanian at my side to help me through this drag of a movie, great special effects and cool robots aside. We discuss and hypothesize about robotfeelings, bad spaceship construction, amazing cinematography, weird mixer hands and what it means to keep the legacy of robots alive! We were very confused.

This episode really turns it around: we have the hilarious and magnificent Hanna Evensen as our co-host and we are covering the most recent big-release zombedy made in Austria! We discuss quips, Global Warming, cool deer-animatronics and much more, tune in and check it out.

Episode 25 – Silentium – 2004

Luke Hacker is back and we continue our journey through the Brenner-series of movies with one of the strongest entries. Salzburg provides the perfect background for this intriguing story about murder, suicide, big money, big opera and being reborn in the eyes of the Lord! And we try to derive humor from it.

FFPÖ follows through on a request that wasn’t taken lightly and we got the perfect co-host to make it so: Jack Holmes joins me this time to discuss female empowerment, weird acting, 10 plots, surprise twists, German/Austrian attempts at humor and one of the greatest intro songs of all time.

Episode 21 – Der Knochenmann – The Bone Man – 2009

Luke Hacker is my gracious co-host this time and we try to be as fun as we can, while talking about eating people in this here proto-Hannibal film. And the movie shows that preparing humans is as disgusting or as delicious as you want it to be. A movie so Austrian in its core, that you will find it hard to not party afterwards with a Schnitzel in your mouth and Mozart in your ears. Now listen to us ramble on about it for more than an hour!

Episode 12 – Funny Games – 1997

In this episode of FFPÖ I sit down with Pockets Graham, director, actor, writer and comedian to discuss Funny Games, the 1997 experimental horror movie directed by Michael Haneke. Pockets and I discuss the non existent soundtrack, the use of real film and white people being aggressively white to the point of stupidity being the real horror.

A big thank you to Pockets Graham for being the co-host:

Episode 11 – Im Keller (In the Basement) – 2014

The terrific Lex Morales joins me in this episode of FFPÖ to talk about the literally buried world of the Austrian soul. We explore the entertaining, thought-provoking and downright disturbing basements of Normal Joe and Jane and many, many questions pile up in this here episode.

Thanks to Lex Morales to co-host this show and follow him on:

Episode 10 – Das finstere Tal – The Dark Valley – 2014

For the 10th episode, we prepared something special, made in the US of A with a real New York comedian as my guest host Julianna D. Meagher, how exciting. We look at the 2014 break-out hit from Austria, The Dark Valley, an Austrian movie in the style of a western and we ask too many questions with too many answers in this behemoth of an episode.

Episode 9 – Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei – The Edukators – 2004

In a very special episode of FFPÖ we don’t have one American co-host but instead doubling down on the Austrian and we have a brand new guest co-host embodied by the funny and smart Florian Reichl and also a secret guest pops up, so stay tuned for our review of The Edukators, a movie from 2004 that revolutionized Austrian and German filmmaking and with a message that still rings true today.
